MATTHEW CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE STUDY QUESTIONS
  1. Matthew 21:1-11. Jesus didn't own anything so how did He get a donkey to ride?
  2. What did the disciples and Jesus do to the donkey and her colt?
  3. Why did Jesus choose to ride on a donkey if He is the Messiah, the King?  
  4. What was the response of the crowd?
  5. What is the meaning of "Hosanna"? Who were they indicating Jesus let them cry out this announcement? 
  6. How was Jesus different from what the people were expecting?
  7. What kind of Jesus are you following? One of your own devising or one who brings transformation and cleansing? 
  8. Matthew 21:12-17. Where is the first place Jesus went to when He entered Jerusalem? What did He do there? 
  9. Do you think the church needs cleansing today? What do you think Jesus would do if He would come to cleanse our church?  
  10. Do you think our church is a house of prayer? Do you think true worship / prayer is basically ignored or even impossible in our churches? If so, what might cause it?
  11. Is there more activity than prayer in the church?
  12. Are people getting right with God and confessing their sin and then because of their freedom worshipping God freely? Is worship contrived or over programmed?
  13. What did Jesus do after He cleaned the Temple? What was the response?
  14. How did Jesus respond to the indignation of the chief priests and teachers of the law?
  15. Matthew 21:18-20. What make this section about the fig tree so difficult to understand?
  16. What may be a possible explanation?
  17. Do you think the church or we ourselves could be guilty of not fulfilling the reason for why we are here on earth? What is the purpose of the church on earth?
  18. What does it appear will be the result if we don't fulfill our mission? 
  19. Matthew 21:21-22. What is Jesus promising us through prayer?
  20. Matthew 21:23-27 As Jesus was teaching in the temple courts what question did the chief priests and elders of the people ask Him? 
  21. What was Jesus' response?
  22. What was the answer the chief priests and elders of the people gave Jesus? Why did they give that answer?
  23. What was Jesus' answer to them?
  24. Are you ever afraid to tell the truth?
  25. If we know the truth, are we obligated to tell it? 
  26. Are you ever afraid to admit you are wrong?
  27. Matthew 21:28-32. What do you think is the meaning of the parable of the two sons?
  28. Matthew 21:33-46. What can we understand from this parable that would have been understood by the Jewish people and especially the religious leaders?
  29. Who is the landowner?
  30. What does the vineyard represent?
  31. Why was a wall / hedge built?
  32. What was the watchtower used for?
  33. Who were the farmers (tenants) that the landowner rented the vineyard to?
  34. Who were the servants?
  35. What were they sent to do?
  36. What did they do to the servants?
  37. Who was the son that was finally sent?
  38. Where did they kill the son?
  39. What answer did the crowd give to Jesus' question as to what the owner will do to the tenants?
  40. who are the other tenants that the owner will rent to?
  41. What was the stone that was rejected but became a capstone (cornerstone)?
  42. Why is the part about the stone a part of the parable?
  43. What will happen to the kingdom of God?
  44. What does it mean that those who fall on that stone will be broken to pieces and those He falls on He will crush? 
  45. What does this parable tell us about God?
  46. What does this parable tell us about people? 
  47. What do we learn about Jesus from this parable? 
  48. What conclusion did the religious leaders have after Jesus told this parable? What did they want to do as a result?
  49. How do you respond when God convicts you of something that is not right in your life?

MATTHEW CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO STUDY QUESTIONS
  1. Matthew 22:1-10. What is the kingdom of heaven like?
  2. How many of those invited to this special wedding banquet, accepted the invitation and attended?
  3. How did the king respond to this refusal? 
  4. What was the response of the invited guests this time?
  5. What was the response of the king to this insult?
  6. What does it mean they didn't deserve to come? (Verse 8).
  7. So, did anyone get to enjoy the wedding banquet that had already been prepared?
  8. Matthew 22:11-14. One person didn't get to stay for the wedding mean. How come? What happed to him?
  9. How many are called? How many are chosen?
  10. What is the meaning behind this parable?
  11. Who is the king? Who are the invited guests? 
  12. What was invitation of a wedding feast a picture of?
  13. Who are the servants that go out to call the already invited ones? 
  14. What does the indifference and hostility of the invited people represent? 
  15. Are you indifferent or hostile to God's invitation to a wedding feast put on in honor of His Son Jesus? 
  16. What were the consequences of the Jews refusal to accept God's invitation? 
  17. Why was the king upset with the one man who was dressed differently? What kind of person does that represent?
  18. Do you feel you should be allowed to come to God on your own terms? 
  19. What's the garment the King was looking for? How do you get that garment?
  20. Are you wearing the garment God has prepared for you? 
  21. Who is the only person God will reject?
  22. What is the meaning of many are called but few are chosen?
  23. Have you accepted God's invitation to the wedding feast in honor of His Son Jesus?
  24. Matthew 22:15-22. Who came together to trap Jesus? What was unusual about this? 
  25. What was the trap?
  26. How did Jesus diffuse their trap?
  27. What was the response of the people to Jesus' answer?
  28. Matthew 22:23-33. Who was the next group of people that tried to attack Jesus?
  29. What did Jesus clarify right from the beginning?
  30. How did the crowd respond to Jesus' answer? 
  31. Matthew 22:34-40. Who asked the next question? What was the question? What was the purpose of the question?
  32. What was Jesus' answer? What does Jesus' answer mean?
  33. Matthew 22:41-46. What question did Jesus ask the Pharisees?
  34. What was the Pharisees' response?
  35. Did Jesus agree with the answer?
  36. How did the Pharisees respond when Jesus asked why David would then have called the Messiah Lord if He was his son?
  37. If you could ask Jesus any question, what would you ask Him?
