YOU DO NOT LACK ANY SPIRITUAL GIFT

1 Corinthians 1:7 Therefore, you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
YOU DO NOT LACK ANY SPIRITUAL GIFT
Paul expresses gratitude and praise to the Corinthian church because God, in His grace (undeserved favor, love, enablement, 1 Corinthians 1:4), has given them specific spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12-14). These gifts are special abilities given through the Holy Spirit that allow individuals to serve the needs of the church in a way that honors God and benefits those within the congregation. God is always faithful to place within the devoted church congregation exactly what it needs to fulfill His purposes for the church at any given time. Notice that all of Paul’s instruction about spiritual gifts addressed in this letter, nowhere does he try to eliminate or discourage the use of these gifts. Instead, he attempts to change the Corinthians’ attitudes toward spiritual gifts so they may use them as God desires.

IT IS THE POWER OF GOD

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
IT IS THE POWER OF GOD
The message of the cross proclaims how Christ gave His life to pay the penalty for our sin. It tells of Jesus’ sacrifice for us, celebrates the life provided by that sacrifice and requires people to make a personal choice about how they will respond to Christ’s sacrifice. This message not only involves wisdom and truth, but also God’s active power to bring spiritual salvation, healing, freedom from demons and rescue from sin’s power.

GOD IS FAITHFUL

DECEMBER 27 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
GOD IS FAITHFUL
Those who claim to be Christians must never justify disobeying God’s standards with excuses that they are simply human and imperfect, or that no one can go without sinning in words, thoughts, and actions (Romans 6:1). At the same time, Paul assures the Corinthians that no true follower of Christ needs ever run the risk of compromising their relationship with Him.
  1. It is not a sin to be tempted. Jesus Himself was tempted (Matthew 4:1-11). But giving in to temptation is sin. In fact, the mistake is often made when a person openly chooses to put himself or herself in any situation where temptation is clearly present or will surely come. When the choice toward temptation is made, the fall is certain.
  2. The Holy Spirit clearly affirms that God provides His children with the needed strength and opportunity to overcome every temptation they face. God gives the desire and power to resist sin (Revelation 2:7. 17, 26). God’s faithfulness expresses itself in two ways:
    1. He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle and resist with His help and
    2. For each temptation, He will provide a specific way for us to endure the temptation and overcome sin (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
  3. Followers of Christ have all the power and ability they need to fight and win personal battles against sin and spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:10-18; Hebrews 7:25). This power is available through God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 2:11-14), the blood of Jesus Christ (His personal sacrifice for our sin, Ephesians 2:13; 1 Peter 2:24), God’s Word (Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), the Holy Spirit’s power dwelling within the Christian (Titus 3:5-6; 1 Peter 1:5 and Christ’s intercession (pleading our case) in heaven.
  4. If Christians give in to temptation and sin, it is not because Christ’s power and provision are inadequate; it is because they fail to rely on the Holy Spirit’s power to help them resist their own ungodly desires (Romans 8:13-14; Galatians 5:16, 24; James 1:13-15). God’s “divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3); and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we can “live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, … being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience” (Colossians 1:10-11; Matthew 4:1, on how to conquer temptation). We can overcome every temptation and find a way out if we sincerely desire to please God and if we depend on His power and faithfulness.

DO IT ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
DO IT ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
The main goal of a Christian’s life is to please God and bring honor to Him by becoming more like Jesus and reflecting His attitude of humility and selflessness toward God and others (Philippians 2:3-8). Anything that cannot be done for God’s glory (in honor and gratitude to Him as our Creator, Savior and Lord) should not be done at all. We honor Him by obedience, thankfulness, humility, faithfulness, prayer, reliance on Him and selfless consideration for others for the sake of bringing them closer to Christ. This rule (“do it all for the glory of God”) must be the primary directive to our lives, a guide for our conduct and a test for our actions.

JESUS IS LORD

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore, I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
JESUS IS LORD
Paul begins the discussion on spiritual gifts by focusing on the fact that the gifts and other works of the Holy Spirit will exalt, honor, and draw attention to Jesus as Lord – the Leader and authority – of the church. The surest evidence of the Spirit’s activity is an ever-growing expression of the person, presence, power, love, and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through spiritual gifts, Christ Himself ministers by the Holy Spirit through His people and to His people (Verse 12-27; Matthew 25:40).

THE WICKED WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM

11/4/2021

NOVEMBER 4 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters not adulterers not male prostitutes not homosexual offenders not thieves not the greedy not drunkards not slanderers not swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
THE WICKED WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM
Some in Corinth were deceived into believing that even if they were unfaithful to Christ, abandoning their relationship with Him and defying Him through immoral or unjust behavior, their salvation and inheritance in God’s kingdom were still secure.
  1. However, Paul affirms that spiritual death is the sure and final result of habitual sin, even for those who were believers at one time (Romans 8:13). No one can live for selfish or immoral pleasure and still have a part in God’s eternal kingdom (Romans 6:16; James 1:15; 1 John 2:4; 3:9). Paul repeats this foundational teaching often (Galatians 5:21; Ephesians 5:5-6). Notice that this principle was frequently communicated by the Old Testament prophets (Jeremiah 8:7; 23:17; Ezekiel 13:10).
  2. Paul’s warning is directed to the whole Christian community. We must not be deceived: those who are “wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Any “salvation” that does not include the life-transforming, spiritually purifying and character-building work of the Holy Spirit is not genuine and has no place in New Testament teaching.

UNBELIEVER - JUDGED BY ALL

9/2/2021

SEPTEMBER 2 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT
Picture
1 Corinthians 14:24-25
But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand come in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”
UNBELIEVER – JUDGED BY ALL
One of the surest signs that the Holy Spirit is present and at work in any gathering of Christians is His ability to bring conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8).
  1. This means that the Holy Spirit is able to expose an individual’s sin to his or her own conscience and to convince the person of the need to get right with God because he or she is accountable to Him. If this work of the Spirit is absent, people will see no need to admit their sin, accept God’s forgiveness, turn from their own way, and entrust their lives to Christ. When such decisions to follow Christ are not taking place within a church, the Holy Spirit is clearly not at work according to the Biblical pattern.
  2. The exposing of sin within a person’s heart (Verse 25) does not require a special gift of spiritual revelation or “mind reading.” A prophetic message and its moral truth, when delivered under the impulse (influence and anointing) of the Holy Spirit, is enough to bring godly conviction to the heart of a person who is not in a right relationship with God (Hebrews 4:12).

    Book of Micah Bible Study

    $14.00

Here at Tailspin Farms Life in Grace Bible Study series we are starting the book of MICAH!

The book of MICAH is from the Old Testament.

The book of Micah contains many warnings of doom and prophecies of hope.

In this study on Micah I hope to provide an overview and lessons we can learn from the book of Micah.

The prophet Micah was from the small town of Moresheth Gath in southern Judah, a productive agricultural area about 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem.

Like Amos, he came from the rural countryside, probably from a family of humble status. While the prophet Isaiah was in Jerusalem addressing the king and international affairs,

Micah was a country prophet who was deeply sensitive to the social issues that affected the small towns and villages throughout Judah.

I invite you to go through this Bible Study with me.

    Thank you,
