HE SHOULD PRAY AND GOD WILL GIVE HIM LIFE

July 3 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray, and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am saying that he should pray about that.

He Should Pray and God Will Give Him Life

John refers to a type of prayer that is definitely in line with God’s desires and purposes, so we can be sure that He will answer (1 John 5:14-15). It is prayer for spiritually weak believers who need God’s grace (His undeserved favor, love, help and spiritual ability) and encouragement in a prayer are as follows:
  1. The person needing prayer must be a brother or sister (a believer who is still in a personal relationship with Christ) who has not deliberately defied God, rejected His truth or abandoned his or her relationship with God. That is to say, the person has not sinned in a way that has brought spiritual death and separation from God (Romans 8:13), like the false teachers of John’s day who totally rejected the truth that Jesus came and died for sin (1 John 4:2). Since the believer has not committed such sin, he or she still has spiritual life but is weak and struggling. The person is willing to admit those struggles, turn from his or her own way and submit to God, yet still needs help in conquering the power of Satan and sin.
  2. For struggling believers in this situation, the church must pray that God will give them “life,” which means a renewal of spiritual strength and God’s grace which is being threatened by sin (Romans 8:6; 2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Peter 3:7). God promises to answer that prayer and give His grace, though the person must still personally respond to God and accept His help.
  3. For a former believer who has committed a sin “that leads to death” (spiritual death and separation from God), the church cannot pray with absolute assurance that God will give more grace. This type of sin involves deliberately defying God and His truth and refusing to obey Him. Such a person is dead spiritually and can only be restored to life spiritually if he or she sincerely repents (Matthew 3:2) and turns back to God (Romans 8:13). We must pray that God will direct the circumstances of person’s life in such a way that he or she comes to the end of their will to resist God, turns back to Him, and is restored once more to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

THE DEVIL

June 25 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

1 John 3:8 He who does what is sinful is the devil because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

The Devil

Many people in the world, even some in the church, refuse to accept the fact of a real devil who wars against God and seeks to destroy people spiritually and in every other way (1 Peter 5:8). But John, one of Jesus’ closest followers, has much to say about “the devil.” He calls him “the evil one” (1 John 3:13; 2:13-14; 5:18-19), who “has been sinning from the beginning” (from the time he first rebelled against God, before the temptation of Adam and Eve, John 8:44). He is the instigator of sin, and those who continue to live in sin are “of the devil” (1 John 3:8), are his children (1 John 3:12). He is behind “the spirit of antichrist” that is in the world (1 John 4:3), and he has “the whole world” – those who do not follow God -under his control (1 John 5:19). But the devil cannot permanently harm God’s children (1 John 5:18). In fact, the follower of Christ will “overcome the evil one” (1 John 2:13-14; 4:4), and Christ will “destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8).

ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL

May 11 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Ask Anything According To His Will

Our prayers (as our lives) are effective in accomplishing God’s purposes only if they are fully submitted to and it tune with God, His Word, and His will for our lives. (God’s will can be described as His desires and plans based on His character and purposes.) When we pray, we are to focus on who God is and what He can accomplish through our lives if we are in right relationship with Him. Praying with such an awareness will increase our faith and dependence on God (John 14:13). We can know God’s will in many instances because it is directly revealed in His Word. At other times, it becomes clear only as we earnestly pray and rely on God to guide our lives and show us His plans. As we grow deeper in a relationship with God and better understand His character, we will better understand His desires and purposes as well. Once we know His will about any given issue or situation, then we can ask in confidence and faith. When we do this, we know that He hears us and that His purposes for us will be accomplished (1 John 3:22).

HIS COMMANDS ARE NOT BURDENSOME

1 John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

His Commands Are Not Burdensome

True children of God will not consider God’s commands, principles, and guidelines too heavy, unpleasant, or unreasonable (Psalms 119:16, 47, 70). This does not mean that His commands will be easy to live by. Yet, as John explains in 1 John 5:4, our faith and spiritual salvation bring the Holy Spirit’s power into our lives, giving us both the desire and the ability to obey God (Philippians 2:13).

THIS IS HOW WE KNOW

April 25 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

1 John 5:2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.

This Is How We Know

True Christians love, which is the fruit of the Christian’s love for God (Mark 12:30) and obedience to His commands (1 John 3:23; John 15:10; Matthew 23:37; John 14:21), will express itself in unselfish love for others – the second greatest commandment (Matthew 22:39-40). That is to say, the acts of love toward others are evidence of true love for God.

WALK IN THE LIGHT

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Walk In The Light

“Walk in the light” means to believe and accept God’s truth as revealed in His Word and to make an earnest and sustained effort, with His help, to live by God’s truth in words and actions. The expression, “the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin,” refers to the ongoing work of sanctification (spiritual and moral purification, refinement, growth, development, maturity, and preparation from God’s purposes) within the lives of those who follow Christ. Through the inner presence of His Holy spirit, God provides continual cleansing for a believers unknown and unintentional sins. John is probably not thinking here of deliberate defiance against God and His standard since he speaks of walking in the light. This continual purifying allows us to have intimate companionship with God.

FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM

April 15 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

1 John 1:6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

Fellowship With Him

To “walk in the darkness” means to live outside of God’s truth and a personal relationship with Him. It means to reject God’s standards and pursue one’s own direction toward selfish and immoral pleasure. People who live this way do not “have fellowship with Him,” and are “not born of God” (1 John 3:7-9; John 3:19; 2 Corinthians 6:14). Their actions show that they do not have a saving relationship with God. But those who have accepted God’s forgiveness and the opportunity to have true companionship with Christ experience His favor, help and strength to live in spiritual purity and to do what is right by God’s standard (1 John 1:7; 2:4; 3:10).

    Book of Micah Bible Study

    $14.00

Here at Tailspin Farms Life in Grace Bible Study series we are starting the book of MICAH!

The book of MICAH is from the Old Testament.

The book of Micah contains many warnings of doom and prophecies of hope.

In this study on Micah I hope to provide an overview and lessons we can learn from the book of Micah.

The prophet Micah was from the small town of Moresheth Gath in southern Judah, a productive agricultural area about 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem.

Like Amos, he came from the rural countryside, probably from a family of humble status. While the prophet Isaiah was in Jerusalem addressing the king and international affairs,

Micah was a country prophet who was deeply sensitive to the social issues that affected the small towns and villages throughout Judah.

I invite you to go through this Bible Study with me.

    Thank you,

    Margarita
