SHARED IN THEIR HUMANITY

July 1 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
Hebrews 2:14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil –

Shared In Their Humanity

Because those whom Jesus came to save are flesh and blood (human), Jesus also had to become a human being. Only as a true human being could He Qualify to rescue the human race from Satan’s power and restore people to a right relationship with God. As fully man and fully God, Jesus was the only one capable of bridging the gap that sin had created between God and humanity. Christ died to destroy Satan’s power over those who accept Jesus’ sacrifice for themselves (1 John 3:8), and Jesus frees His followers from the fear of death (Revelation 1:18) by promising eternal life with God (John 17:3; Revelation 21 – 22). Keep in mind that Satan holds the power of death only in the sense that he entices people to go their own God-defying way and to come under sin’s penalty, which is death and separation from God (Ezekiel 18:4; Romans 5:12; 6:23). But Jesus Christ takes away that power in that He has already taken sin’s death penalty on Himself, canceling the debt of sin for all who receive Him. Jesus then empowers them to continually overcome temptation and sin (Romans 8:1-16).

Hebrews13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Obey Them

Obedience and faithfulness to Christian leaders, pastors and teachers must be based on a higher loyalty to God. The Christians’ loyalty on a descending scale is as follows:
  1. First, to God in a person-to-person relationship (Matthew 22:37), including faithfulness to the truth and principles of His Word.
  2. Second, to the local church body (congregation, community of true believers) as it remains faithful to God and His written Word (John 15:12; Galatians 6:10).
  3. Third, the godly leaders within the church, as long as they remain faithful and loyal to God, to His Word and to His mission for the church.

THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

FEBRUARY 10 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
Hebrews 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we my serve the living God!
THE BLOOD OF CHRIST
The blood of Jesus Christ, signifying His sacrifice for our sin, is central to the New Testament concept of redemption, spiritual salvation (1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:27; Ephesians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2; Revelation 7:14; 12:11). As He died on the cross, Jesus shed His innocent blood in order to remove our sins and to restore our opportunity for a right relationship with God (Hebrews 5:8; Romans 5:19; Philippians 2:8; Leviticus 16).
By His blood, Christ Jesus accomplished the following:
  1. His blood provides forgiveness for the sins of all who turn from their own way and put their faith in Christ (Matthew 26:28).
  2. His blood ransoms (rescues, restores) all true believers from the control of Satan and evil powers (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 5:9; 12:11).
  3. His blood justifies (makes right with God) all who entrust their lives to Him (Romans 3:24-25).
  4. His blood cleanses believers’ consciences from guilt so that they might serve God with full assurance of salvation (Hebrews 9:14; 10:22; 13:18).
  5. His blood sanctifies (purifies, refines, develops, sets apart for God’s service) God’s people (Hebrews 13:12; 1 John 1:7-10).
  6. His blood opens the way for Christ’s followers to come directly to God through Christ in order to find grace, mercy, help and salvation (Hebrews 7:25; 10:19; Ephesians 2:13, 18).
  7. His blood is a guarantee of all the promises of the new covenant (Hebrews 10:29; 13:20; Matthew 26:28; 1 Corinthians 11:25).
  8. The saving, restoring and purifying power of Christ’s blood is continually made available to believers as they come to God through faith in Christ (Hebrews 7:25; 10:22; 1 John 1:7; Romans 3:25).

DIVIDING SOUL AND SPIRIT

1/4/2022

JANUARY 4 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
DIVIDING SOUL AND SPIRIT
God’s Word can penetrate our lives and inner beings so precisely that it discerns and defines the obscure dividing line between “soul” and “spirit.” “Soul” (Greek psyche) refers to our inner life aside from our spiritual experience – our life in relation to ourselves (our emotions, thoughts, desires, choices). “Spirit” (Greek pneuma) here means the human spirit; in the New Testament this refers to the spiritual dimension of our being – our life in relation to God (Romans 8:10). God’s Word awakens and strengthens His life in our spirit, and it exposes our own “soulishness” (our own motives and desires) when that part of us conflicts with the life that God is developing within our spirit. By willingly submitting to God’s life-penetrating Word, our hearts will be softened and changed so that we can truly take on godly character traits and experience peace and rest with Him. The alternative is to allow our hearts to become hardened against God’s Word. This is when we lose faith and find ourselves condemned by the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12-13 remind us of the seriousness of our choices when responding to God and His Word.

LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED WICKEDNESS

11/20/2021

NOVEMBER 20 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
Hebrews 1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED WICKEDNESS
It is not enough for God’s people to love what is right and true; they must also, like their Savior, hate evil. (Righteousness suggests a right relationship with God and doing what is right by God’s standard.) We see this reality of Christ’s devotion to righteousness (Isaiah 11:5) and His hatred of wickedness in His life, ministry, and death (John 3:19; 11:33). All of Christ’s work, including His death for our sins, was to oppose, overcome and destroy the work and effects of evil in people’s lives.
  1. Jesus’ faithfulness to His Father, shown by His love of righteousness and hatred of wickedness, is the basis for God’s anointing (setting apart, commissioning, empowering) of His Son to fulfill His mission on earth. In the same way, our anointing for God’s service will come only as we identify with our Master’s attitude toward righteousness and evil (Psalms 45:7).
  2. There are two things that increase our love of righteousness and our hatred of evil:
    1. Growing in genuine love and compassion for those whose lives are being destroyed by sin and
    2. Experiencing a deeper relationship and greater union with our God and Savior, who “loved righteousness and hated wickedness” (Psalms 94:16; 97:10; Proverbs 8:13; Amos 5:15; Romans 12:9; 1 John 2:15; Revelation 2:6)

IN THE BEGINNING, O LORD

Hebrews 1:10 He also says, “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
IN THE BEGINNING, O LORD
Here, as in verse 6, the Old Testament passage that is quoted originally referred to Yahweh (“O Lord”) – the covenant name by which God revealed Himself to His people in the Old Testament. In this case, the passage is applied to Jesus, providing a clear indication of His deity – the fact that He also, like the Father and the Holy Spirt, is fully God (Colossians 1:16).

ALWAYS LIVES TO INTERCED

9/6/2021

SEPTEMBER 6 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
Hebrews 7:25
Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
ALWAYS LIVES TO INTERCED
Jesus Christ has taken His rightful place of highest honor and authority with His Father in heaven (Hebrews 8:1). There He continually intercedes (intervenes, pleads a case) for each and every one of His followers according to the Father’s desires, plans and purposes (Romans 8:33-34; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1).
  1. Through Christ’s ministry of intercession, we experience God’s love and presence and find mercy and grace (undeserved favor, love, and spiritual enablement) to help us in any kind of need (Hebrews 4:16), temptation (Luke 22:32), weakness (Hebrews 4:15; 5:2), sin (1 John 1:9; 2:1) and trial (Romans 8:31-39).
  2. Christ’s high-priestly prayer for His people shortly before His death (John 14), as well as His desire to fill and empower His followers with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:33), helps us understand the primary character of His ministry (John 17:1).
  3. Because of Christ’s intercession, “those who come” to God (“continually come” or “keep coming”; the Greek participle in the present tense emphasizes continual activity) receive grace to be saved completely. Christ’s intercession as our high priest is necessary for our salvation. Without the grace, mercy and help provided to us through Jesus’ work of intercession, we would fall away from God, become enslaved again to sin and be condemned forever. Our only hope is to come to God through Christ in faith (1 Peter 1:5).
  4. Note that Christ does not remain an advocate and intercessor for those who refuse to confess and give up their sin (their own God-defying way) and who abandon their relationship with God (1 John 1:5-7, 9; 3:10). His intercession to “save completely” is only for “those who come to God through Him” (Hebrews 4:16). There is no safety and security for those who deliberately continue to sin and refuse to turn to God (Hebrews 10:21-31; 3:6).
  5. Jesus Christ is our only mediator (go-between with people and God) and intercessor in heaven. This means that any attempt to look toward angels or dead saints as mediators or to offer prayer to the Father through them is both useless and unbiblical (Colossians 1:2; 2:18).

Matthew is the first of the four gospel writings, yet there is only one gospel about Jesus Christ and there are four different writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The word "Gospel" means "good news", and the good news is about Jesus Christ dying on the cross and then 3 days later conquering death and rising from the dead, offering salvation to all mankind, this is the Gospel.

I hope you that you'll participate in this 15-week series.

Matthew has 28 chapters. For the in-depth study the 154-page eBook will help with your study.

    Book of Micah Bible Study

    $14.00

Here at Tailspin Farms Life in Grace Bible Study series we are starting the book of MICAH!

The book of MICAH is from the Old Testament.

The book of Micah contains many warnings of doom and prophecies of hope.

In this study on Micah I hope to provide an overview and lessons we can learn from the book of Micah.

The prophet Micah was from the small town of Moresheth Gath in southern Judah, a productive agricultural area about 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem.

Like Amos, he came from the rural countryside, probably from a family of humble status. While the prophet Isaiah was in Jerusalem addressing the king and international affairs,

Micah was a country prophet who was deeply sensitive to the social issues that affected the small towns and villages throughout Judah.

I invite you to go through this Bible Study with me.

    Thank you,
