Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

The Lord's Great Sorrow

Jesus’ tears (Luke 19:41) over Jerusalem’s stubbornness are a testimony to the freedom of the human will (free choice, desire, intention) to resist God’s grace and will (Luke 19:41; Acts 7:51; Romans 1:8-32; 2:5).

THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD

June 22 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
Luke 4:5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.

The Kingdoms Of The World

Satan tempts Jesus with the offer of rulership over all the kingdoms of the world, a proposal that Jesus rejects. This could be viewed as an appeal for material wealth, possessions, and power.
  1. Jesus’s kingdom in this age is not a worldly kingdom (John 18:36-37).  Throughout His ministry, Jesus would refuse to seek a kingdom for Himself by the worldly methods of compromise, earthly power, political maneuvering, external violence, or personal popularity.
  2. Jesus’ kingdom is a spiritual one, established in the hearts of His people, who have also refused to follow the ungodly ways of the world. As a heavenly kingdom,                                                                     (a)It is gained through suffering, self-denial, humility, and meekness – the opposite of how worldly people pursue power.           (b) It requires surrendering ourselves as living and holy sacrifices (Romans 12:1) – completely devoted and obedient to God and His purposes.                                                                                                                    (c) It involves a battle against Satan, sin, temptation, and evil using spiritual weapons (Ephesians 6:10-20).                                                           (d) It means resisting conformity to the beliefs, behaviors and lifestyles that are common in the world (Romans 12:2).
  3. Satan’s appeal to worship him was an attempt to get Jesus to take a quick route to world domination – to avoid the humility and sufferings that would lead Jesus’ death on the cross. That is to say, the devil was trying to get Jesus to lay aside His entire purpose for coming to earth (Matthew 4:10). Christ’s willingness to face all the difficulties that lay ahead is an example to all believers. He taught us that there are no shortcuts to fulfilling God’s perfect purposes for our lives, not matter how tempting the options may seem.

JESUS, FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

May 25 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
Luke 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

Jesus, Full Of The Holy Spirit

Jesus was empowered and led by the Spirit when He encountered Satan’s temptation.
TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL
One aspect of Jesus’ temptation revolved around what kind of Messiah, or Savior, He would be and how He would use His anointing (His authority and empowerment) from God. (Many Jews would reject Him because He did not fulfill their expectations of a political “Savior” who would step forward with military might and free them from Roman rule.).
  1. Satan tempted Jesus to use his power to serve his own self-interest (Luke 4:3-4) to gain glory and power over the nations instead of accepting the humility and suffering that was ahead for him (Luke 4:5-8). This was an opportunity for him to satisfy the people’s expectation for a charismatic Messiah (Luke 4:9-11).
  2. Satan still tempts Christian leaders to use their spiritual authority, position, and ability for their own self-interest, to establish their own reputation and power and to please people rather than God. Those who selfishly compromise with Satan have actually surrendered to his control.
  3. Jesus turned away every one of Satan’s temptations by properly referring to God’s Word (“It is written”). If this was the effective strategy for Jesus, we certainly must know and rely on His Word as revealed to us in the Bible.

Luke 3:21-22 When all the people were being baptizes, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came form heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Holy Spirit Descended On Him

Jesus who from the beginning had been conceived by and filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35), is now personally commissioned and empowered by the Spirit for His ministry. (Matthew 3:17)

SNAKES AND SCORPIONS

Luke 10:19-20 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Snakes and Scorpions

“Snakes and scorpions” are terms representing the most dangerous forces of spiritual evil. Christians have power over evil spirits because Christ has given us His authority over Satan.

Do Not Rejoice

Christ warns the disciples that they must not base their joy on the fact that they must not base their joy on the fact that they have power over demons or success in ministry. Their highest joy and fulfillment must come from the fact that they are forgiven and freed from the power of sin and destined for heaven (Matthew 7:22-23).

BELIEVE FOR A WHILE … FALL AWAY

4/30/2022

April 30 - Start Your Day Right Devotion

Picture
Luke 8:13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.

Believe For a While ... Fall Away

In Christ’s interpretation of this parable, He clearly affirms the possibility of a person believing in Christ (making a sincere commitment to Jesus and beginning a life of faith), but later falling away and turning their back on their commitment. This may happen when things get tough or because they fail to resist temptation. In contrast, there are those who “hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop” (Luke 8:15). Jesus teaches that it is absolutely necessary that those who hear His Word “hold firmly: to it (Luke 11:28; John 8:51; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2; Colossians 1:21-23; 1 Timothy 4:1, 16; 2 Timothy 3:13-15; 1 John 2:24-25; John 15:6). One of the main ways we retain the Word is by putting it into practice as soon as God shows us how to apply it to our lives (James 1:22-55).

THE FATHERS TO THEIR CHILDREN

MARCH 3 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION
Picture
Luke 1:17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous to make read a people prepared for the Lord.
THE FATHERS TO THEIR CHILDREN
One of the greatest sins of God’s people throughout their history had been the failure of the fathers to love their sons and daughters enough to teach them the ways and commands of God (Malachi 4:6). With the coming of John and the message of Christ, fathers would once again be challenged and inspired to guide their families in a way that honors God and fulfills His purposes.
  1. This is a clear statement that one of the key goals of the gospel – the “good new” about Jesus – is to reestablish God’s purposes for families, primarily through a right relationship between fathers and children. (When that relationship breaks down or is absent, families are prone to difficulty and dysfunction.) by challenging people to humbly return to God and give Him the rightful leadership in their lives, John would inspire fathers to recommit themselves to their children in an attitude that is pleasing to God.
  2. If the church today fails to become what God wants it to be, one factor may be a breakdown in family relationships – particularly with fathers abandoning their children – physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Though they may deny that they are abandoning or neglecting their children, fathers show a lack of love for their children if they fail to spend time with them or do not teach them God’s Word and standard.
  3. The following are important passages related to fathers and children:
      (a) Teaching children to be faithful to God and His purposes: Exodus                 10:2; 13:8; Deuteronomy 4:9-10; 6:6-25; 11:18-21; Psalms 78:5-8; Isaiah                    38:19; Joel 1:3; Ephesians 6:4; 1 Thessalonians 2:11.
       (b) Loving, correcting, and disciplining children: Psalms 103:13;                             Proverbs 3:12; 13:24; 23:13-14; Malachi 4:6; Luke 11:11-13; 2 Corinthians              12:14; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21; 3 Thessalonians 2:11; 1 Timothy                 3:4-5, 12; 5:8; Titus 2:4; Hebrews 12:7.
       (c) Praying for their children: Genesis 17:18; 2 Samuel 12:16; 1 Chronicles               22:11-12; 29:19; Job 1:5; Ephesians 3:14-19.
        (d) A model prayer of a father for his children: John 17:1

I'm excited to announce the new bible study starting soon.

Tailspin Farms Life In Grace will be studying The Book of Matthew.

    The Gospel of Matthew

he Word Gospel. The first book of the English Bible that most of us read from is the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew is the first of the four gospel writings, yet there is only one gospel about Jesus Christ and there are four different writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The word "Gospel" means "good news", and the good news is about Jesus Christ dying on the cross and then 3 days later conquering death and rising from the dead, offering salvation to all mankind, this is the Gospel.

I hope you that you'll participate in this 15-week series.

Matthew has 28 chapters. For the in-depth study the 154-page eBook will help with your study.

    Book of Micah Bible Study

    $14.00

Here at Tailspin Farms Life in Grace Bible Study series we are starting the book of MICAH!

The book of MICAH is from the Old Testament.

The book of Micah contains many warnings of doom and prophecies of hope.

In this study on Micah I hope to provide an overview and lessons we can learn from the book of Micah.

The prophet Micah was from the small town of Moresheth Gath in southern Judah, a productive agricultural area about 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem.

Like Amos, he came from the rural countryside, probably from a family of humble status. While the prophet Isaiah was in Jerusalem addressing the king and international affairs,

Micah was a country prophet who was deeply sensitive to the social issues that affected the small towns and villages throughout Judah.

I invite you to go through this Bible Study with me.

    Thank you,

    Margarita
