A MAN’S HEART IS PROUD

​Pride is an attitude of self-importance that involves putting too much trust in ourselves, our own ideas, and our own abilities. Speaking very highly of oneself (bragging) and thinking very highly of oneself because of one’s wealth, appearance, talents, or abilities (arrogance) are sins associated with pride. If not corrected, these traits will eventually destroy a person (Proverbs 15:33; 16:18). Pride is wearing a false face (Jeremiah 49:16) because even when a proud person appears to be modest, his or her inner attitude makes it impossible to respond to God and others with true humility. God stands against the proud, but gives grace (undeserved favor, mercy, help, blessing) and honor to the humble (James 4:6).
