October 31 - Start Your Day Right Devotion 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. A SPIRIT OF POWER, OF LOVE AND OF SELF-DISCIPLINE It seems that a lack of confidence or being too timid was sometimes a problem for Timothy (1 Corinthians 16:10-11; 1 Timothy 4:12). But he did not have to rely on his own strength and ability to fulfill the ministry God had given him. Whatever God calls us to do, we have no reason to fear (Romans 8:15) because God never calls us to a task for which He will not equip and enable us by the power of His Spirit. Our primary motivation for serving God should be love – God’s love for us (Romans 5:8; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 5:2; 1 John 4:10) and our love for Him and others (Mark 12:30-31; 1 John 3:17; 4:19). But it also takes great discipline to step out in faith and us the gifts He has given us to accomplish His purposes. BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE
