Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
BEFORE I FORMED YOU, I KNEW YOU
Before Jeremiah was born, God had already determined that he would be a prophet. Just as God had a plan for Jeremiah’s life, He also has a specific plan for every person’s life. His goal is for humankind to live according to those plans, allowing Him to fulfill His purposes in and through us. But just as it was with Jeremiah, living by God’s plan may involve difficulty and suffering. But no matter what we encounter as we follow God, He always works for our greatest good (Romans 8:28).

Isaiah 41:10-11
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am Your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.
I AM WITH YOU
New Testament followers of Christ also have become God’s chosen servants (Ephesians 1:3-12; 1 Peter 2:9) and can claim the promises of these verses for themselves. As Christians, we must not fear other humans because God is with us (Isaiah 40:9; 43:2, 5; Genesis 15:1; Acts 18:9-10):1. Giving us the grace (undeserved favor and help) and strength needed to face all of life’s circumstances.
2. Helping us through times of crisis by giving us hope and peace
3. Providing for our needs;
4. Supporting us in our efforts to fulfill His purpose for our lives.

EACH ONE SHOULD USE WHATEVER GIFT HE HAS RECEIVED

MAY 29 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION

 1 Peter 4:10
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
EACH ONE SHOULD USE WHATEVER GIFT HE HAS RECEIVE
God has given each of us specific interests, abilities, and talents that He expects us to put to use in serving Him and others. Because of how God created you, there are things that no one else in the world can do quite like you can. These abilities are typically related to the interests and opportunities God gives you. Though some of our gifts might seem less important than others, they are all significant to God because they provide ways to contribute to His purposes (1 Corinthians 12:11-17). You must not keep your abilities to yourself. God wants to bless and encourage others through you. In a way, you do not just have a gift; you are a gift from God to others. God has planted seeds of ability in you, and it is your responsibility to depend on God to grow and develop your gifts so that others can benefit from the fruit God produces through you (Romans 12:4-8). In a sense, your God-given talents and abilities do not become fully developed gifts until you have given them back to him by blessing and serving others.

FILLED HIM WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD, WITH SKILL

MAY 28 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION

Exodus31:3
And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts –
FILLED HIM WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD, WITH SKILL
The idea of “being filled with the Spirit of God,” as it is used here, means to be spiritually equipped or empowered for special service to God. God fills and empowers people with His Spirit not only for “spiritual” responsibilities, but also for practical service. (Moses carries out these instructions. He gave specific assignments to Bezalel, Oholiab, and others to do the work in Exodus 35:10-36:31.) The work of ministry is not just reserved for church leaders. Every person is a minister in some way (2 Corinthians 3:6). While God does give special skills to individuals for specific tasks, He has also equipped every person with unique talents and abilities. Those talents allow each person to make a difference for His kingdom. God’s Spirit empowers and enlightens people’s minds with the skills and knowledge to creatively serve His purposes. Even the ability to show or teach others how to do something is a special gift from God (Exodus 35:34). God wants us to use what we have been given to build up and encourage others (1Corinthians 12:4-20; Ephesians 4:12). Peter writes that “each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). All Christ’s followers today should pray that the Spirit will give them both physical skills and spiritual gifts. God’s plans for their lives will be fulfilled as they use their gifts for His glory.

SEEK, KINGDOM, RIGHTEOUSNESS

MAY 27 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
SEEK, KINGDOM, RIGHTEOUSNESS
Those who follow Christ are urged to seek – above all else – God’s kingdom and His righteousness. The verb “seek” means being continually absorbed in a search for something or making a long and consistent effort to obtain something (Matthew 13:45). God’s kingdom and righteousness are not passive matters; they are things we must actively pursue. Christ refers to two objects, or focuses, of our seeking:
1. “His kingdom” (His power and authority overall, His purposes and way of life both on earth and into eternity) – we must desperately desire for God’s authority and power to be evident in our lives and in our Christian gatherings. Our own desires should never get in the way of what God wants to do in our individual lives and our churches. We must pray that God’s kingdom will operate in the mighty power of the Holy Spirit to save people from sin, to destroy demonic power, to heal the sick and to bring honor to the Lord Jesus in every way.
2. “His righteousness” (His standards of truth, right and goodness) -through the power of the Holy Spirit, we must make every effort to obey Christ’s commands, show Christ’s standards of truth and right, avoid the ungodly practices of the world and show Christ’s love toward everyone

(Philippians 2:12-13).

NEVER LEAVE NOT FORSAKE YOU

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
NEVER LEAVE NOT FORSAKE YOU
The New Testament applies this promise to all who sincerely receive Christ as Lord and Savior (Hebrews 13:5).
1. Believers are assured that if they love God above all else and depend on Him rather than on material security, the Lord will never desert nor forsake them. He will be their helper (1 Kings 8:57; James 1:5; Matthew 6:30, 33).
2. Because of this promise, we must “be strong and courageous” (Verse 6), persevering in trials, resisting temptations, trusting in the Lord, and fully obeying Him.

ON THOSE WHO FEAR HIM

Psalms 33:18-19
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
ON THOSE WHO FEAR HIM
While the “eyes of the LORD” are on all people (Verse 13-14), He watches over in a special way those who “fear him” (Psalms 34:15) – those whose hearts are filled with awe and respect for His power and holiness (purity, completeness, and separation from evil). God’s “eyes” refer to God’s loving care and oversight of our lives. “To deliver them from death and…famine” means that if we fear the Lord, put our hope in Him, wait patiently for Him to act and keep following His plans, God will watch over and protect us so that we will not die unless it is part of His plan.
