JULY 31 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION  ANGEL OF THE LORD ENCAMPS The angel of the Lord probably refers to the multitude of angels in heaven. The are "ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation" (Hebrews 1:14; Genesis 32:1-2; 2 Kings 6:17) God has commissioned (given authority for a particular task or function) His angels to protect and rescue His people from physical and spiritual harm. JULY 30 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION  Psalms 33:18-19 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. THOSE WHO FEAR HIM While the “eyes of the LORD” are on all people (verse 13-14), He watches over in a special way those who “fear Him” – those whose hearts are filled with awe and respect for His power and holiness (purity, completeness, and separation from evil). God’s “eyes” refer to God’s loving care and oversight of our lives. “To deliver them from death and …famine” means that as long as we fear the Lord, put our hope in Him, wait patiently for Him to act and keep following His plans, God will watch over and protect us so that we will not die unless it is part of His Plan. THE FEAR OF THE LORD A reverent awe (holy wonder and respect) of God’s power, majesty, authority, and holiness produces in us a godly fear of disobeying or ignoring what He has revealed to us in His Word. This attitude is essential to gaining true wisdom that makes a difference in our thoughts and behaviors. It keeps us from doing things that will destroy us spiritually. The New Testament indicates that a true fear of the Lord in our hearts will be joined by the comfort of the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:31). BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. THANKSGIVING AT MEALTIMES Before eating, Christ thanked His heavenly Father for the food. Christians today ought to follow His example and give thanks at every meal as a means of recognizing God’s care and provision for us. This opportunity becomes as act of worship that honors God. THROUGH FAITH ARE SHIELDED BY GOD’S POWER This verse presents three truths concerning the spiritual safety and security of believers. This was a particularly relevant message for Peter’s original audience since many of them were experiencing strong persecution.

And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN Christians are not longer citizens of this world; by choosing to follow Jesus, they have become strangers and aliens on the earth (John 18:36; Romans 8:22-24; Galatians 4:26; Hebrews 11:13; 12:22-23; 13:14; 1 Peter 1:17; 2:11).
