The start of the New Year is an opportunity for us to take time to pray and ask God to do great things in the coming year. 
Let's begin the New Year in Prayer for hope and stronger faith. Pray for God's mercy and grace as we step into 2023. Let us walk by faith into the coming year, giving thanks to God for His compassion and righteousness. 
No matter what the past year brought, God is wanting to use it to increase your faith. May this prayer truly inspire you in the renewing of your heart and mind.

December 31-Start Your Day Right Devotion

1 Thessalonians 4:17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever.

​CAUGHT UP … IN THE CLOUDS

​The words “caught up” are a translation of the Greek harpazo. The lain equivalent of that word is raptu (to be “caught away” or “caught up”), from which we get the word “rapture.” The event, described here and also in 1 Corinthians 15, refers to the time when Christ will take His faithful followers from the earth “to meet the Lord in the air.” This experience will involve only those who are part of Christ’s true church – His faithful followers worldwide.

December 30-Start Your Day Right Devotion

Matthew 24:33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

​ALL THESE THINGS

This refers to all the signs that will occur during the great tribulation (Matthew 24:15-29). The sign that will be the climax, or highest event of that period, will be the “abomination that causes desolation.” This sign will mark the beginning of the final stage of the tribulation (Matthew 24:15). As the prophetic events unfold, Christ’s followers during the tribulation who search the Scriptures (God’s written Word as revealed in the Bible) will “see all these things” and know that the Lord’s return “is near, right at the door.”

​WE OUGHT TO LAY DOWN OUR LIVES

​This does not necessarily mean a physical sacrifice of one’s life (although that may be required at times to save another person; John 15:13). Rather, it means that we should be willing to put aside our own rights, interests and concerns for the sake and benefit of others, particularly to show God’s love to them and bring them closer to Christ (Romans 12:10; 1 Corinthians 10:24; Philippians 2:3-5; 2:17).

December 28-Start Your Day Right Devotion

(KJ) Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

​THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM

​The joy that caused Christ to endure His suffering and look beyond the shame of death on the cross was the anticipation of the personal relationship He would have with each of us who receives and follows Him. His suffering on the cross proves how much He values and desires a deep personal companionship with each of us as individuals. By His sacrifice, He bridged the gap that our sin had created between God and people (1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Peter 3:18), and He restored the opportunity for us to enter a right relationship with God for eternity (John 1:12).
FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS
Just as a runner must focus on the finish line, we must focus on Jesus as the goal and the object of our faith. The fact that He is the "author and perfecter of our faith" means that our faith has its beginning in Him and is completed in Him. He is both the start and the finish of our race of faith. In our race of faith, we look to Jesus as:
  1. our example of trust in and reliance on God (Hebrews 2:13), of commitment to His will (Hebrews 10:7-10; Mark 14:36), of prayer (Hebrews 5:7; Mark 1:35; John 17), of overcoming temptation and suffering (Hebrews 2:10; Hebrews 4:15), of enduring loyalty to the Father (Hebrews 12:2-3), and of receiving joy in completing the work which God has given us; Jesus is also our ultimate example of one who has already run the race and won the victory (Hebrews 11:2; Luke 15:6, 24, 32; John 15:11);
  2. our source of strength, love, grace, mercy and help (Hebrews4:16; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 10:22; Revelation 3:21).
