APRIL 23 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION  2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. HE BECAME POORSacrificial giving was a necessary part of Christ’s nature and character. “He became poor” in the sense that He put aside His heavenly glory, became human, filled the role of a humble servant and eventually gave everything – even His very life – for us. As a result, we now can have a part of His eternal riches. God wants to see the same selfless attitude among Christ’s followers as evidence of His word and character development in their lives. All God’s gifts of mercy, forgiveness, salvation, gifts of the Spirit, the kingdom of heaven and even the opportunity to suffer for the sake of Christ are part of the eternal riches we have received in exchange for the rags of sin (Luke 12:15; Ephesians 1:3; Philippians 4:11-13, 18-19; Hebrews 11:26; Revelation 3:17).
