​MAKE EVERY EFFORT – TO BE HOLY

To be holy is to be morally pure, spiritually whole, separated from evil, dedicated to God and set apart for His purposes. It implies being close to God, aiming to be like Him, living with a deep awareness of His presence and having a strong determination to do what He says is right. Holiness in not simply a matter of negative things we avoid, but of positive things we pursue in serving God. By focusing on what God wants us to be and do, we are not as likely to become caught up and distracted with things that we should not be doing as His children.
Above all things, holiness is God’s priority for His followers (Ephesians 4:21-24).

1. Holiness was God’s purpose for His people when He planned their spiritual salvation in Christ (Ephesians 1:4).
2. Holiness was Christ’s purpose for His people when He came to this earth (Matthew 1:21; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 30).
3. Holiness was Christ’s purpose for His people when He gave Himself for them on the cross (Ephesians 5:25-27).
4. Holiness is God’s purpose in making us a new creation and in giving us the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:2-15; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 2:10).
5. Without holiness, no one can be useful for God’s highest purposes (2 Timothy 2:20-21).
6. Without holiness, there is not nearness to or companionship with God (Psalms 15:1-2).
7. Without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 5:8).
