November 13 -Start Your Day Right Devotion 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. NOT WANTING ANYONE TO PERISH The reason for the Lord’s seeming delay in returning for His people is His great patience and compassion. This relates directly to the mission Christ gave His followers to take His message into all the world and teach others to follow Him (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19). When this mission is complete, the end will come (Matthew 24:14). God wants everyone to hear the life-saving message of Christ and does not want anyone to be spiritually lost and eternally condemned to separation from God (1 Timothy 2:4; Ezekiel 33:11; John 3:10). This truth does not mean that all will be saved because if a person rejects God’s gracious invitation of forgiveness and eternal life with Him, the he or she remains spiritually lost.
