​RANSOM FOR MANY 

​A ransom is a price paid to obtain freedom for others. As part of God’s plan to restore His relationship with people that had been broken by their sin, Jesus gave His own perfect life to pay the penalty for all of humankind’s offenses against God. Christ’s sacrifice secured the release of men and women from sin’s power and control. Those who accept Christ’s sacrifice and entrust their lives to Him are freed from guilt and condemnation (Romans 3:25-26), sin (Ephesians 1:7) and death (Romans 8:2). As used in this verse, “many” means all people (see 1Timothy 2:5-6; Romans 3:25 on the meaning of the cross of Christ).
