January 2-Start Your Day Right Devotion Matthew 24:30 “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. SON OF MAN COMING This verse describes Christ’s appearing in the sky following the tribulation and the amazing signs in the heavens. He will come to rescue His followers, destroy the forces of the antichrist, judge the wicked and establish His earthly reign of righteousness and peace to close our history (Revelation 19:11 – 20:4). All Christians, both the living and the dead (those who had been taken from the earth at the rapture, John 14:3), will return with Christ with power and great glory (Revelation 19:14). The “sign” is probably Christ Himself “coming on the clouds of the sky”, surrounded by brilliant light. Notice that when Christ comes to take His church from the world before the tribulation judgments, He will come to take His church from the world before the tribulation judgments, He will come unexpectedly – like a “thief” (Matthew 24:42-44). But Christ’s coming following the great tribulation will be observable and know to all who are in the world. There will be no doubt that He has returned for the final time. BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE
