JUNE 9 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION FAITHFUL IN PRAY This phrase is translated from a very strong Greek word – proskarterountes- which implies continuous persistence, perseverance, and insistence. The Bible recognizes that most of us will struggles, not only to keep an attitude of prayer, but also to spend real time in prayer. This verse encourages us to be faithful and persistent in prayer because it is our access to God for a life of spiritual intimacy and power. It is also the means by which God advances His kingdom purposes on earth. BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

JUNE 8 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Ephesians6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. PRAY IN THE SPIRIT Our warfare against Satan’s spiritual forces calls for serious and continued prayer. This means praying “in the Spirit,” “on all occasions,” “with all kinds of prayers,” “for all the saints,” “and always keep on praying.” Prayer is not to be viewed just as another spiritual weapon, but as the very act of battle itself as we work together with God to gain the victory for ourselves and others. Failing to pray diligently, with all kinds of prayer in all situations, is to surrender to the enemy (Luke 18:1; Romans 12:12; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Blessings, Margarita & Stace JUNE 7 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT The “sword of the Spirit” – the Word of God- is our offensive weapon to be used in the war against the powers of evil. Jesus effectively used this weapon against Satan (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13). We must know God’s Word and be confident of its power and effectiveness. Satan will try to twist God’s Word, as he has from the beginning (Genesis 3:1-5), and he will make every effort to undermine or destroy the Christian’s confidence in God’s Word. The church must hold on to and defend the inspired Word of God against claims and attacks that it is not authentic and accurate in everything it teaches. To abandon the attitude of Christ and the apostles toward God’s inspired Word is to deny its power to expose evil, to correct, to save, to heal, to drive out demons and to overcome all evil. To deny Scripture’s absolute authority and trustworthiness in all it teaches is t surrender ourselves to Satan’s deception, influence, control, and final destruction (2 Peter 1:21; Matthew 4:1-11). PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD We cannot effectively take part in spiritual warfare in our own strength and with our own plans and strategies; we will surely be defeated, or even destroyed. In order to do effective spiritual battle and come out victorious against satanic forces of evil, we must use the armor that God provides. The full armor of God includes:

Blessings, Margarita & Stace JUNE 5 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that confess his name. CONTINUALLY OFFER TO GOD A SACRIFICE OF PRAISE “Sacrifice” here is used symbolically to represent an offering to God. Our very lives should be “as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1; Philippians 4:18). That is the only sacrifice God now requires of His people. This sacrifice is not just songs of worship or other verbal expressions of praise offered up to God during a worship service in church. While that is a good thing, in truth this setting is where people are gathered specifically for that very reason. The place where praise and worship truly become a sacrifice is outside of the church, where Christians must show their devotion to God and live in a way that truly brings honor and praise to God in all they say and do. Blessings, Margarita & Stace JUNE 4 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Philippians1:4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy JOY This is a key theme in Paul’s letter to the Philippian church. Joy is a central part of our spiritual salvation and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. True Christian joy reflects an inner peace and delight in God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It is the blessing that flows from our relationship with them (1 Corinthians 13:4). Joy is deeper than emotional happiness, which often depends on outward circumstances. Joy is based on God’s immeasurable love for us and on the peace and hope we have because of what Christ has done for us. Our greatest joy will come when God reveals what is stored up for those who remain faithful to Him. God’s Word teaches the following things about joy. 1. Joy is directly related to the spiritual salvation (forgiveness of sins and a personal relationship with God) provided by the personal sacrifice of Jesus Christ, “who loved us and gave Himself up for us” (Ephesians 5:2; 1 Peter 1:3-6; Psalms 5:11; 9:2; Isaiah 35:10). Joy is also directly connected to God’s Word (Jeremiah 15:16; Psalms 119:14). For this reason, true joy does not increase or decrease depending on our feelings or circumstances because it is based on the solid foundation of what Christ has already accomplished for us and on His eternal and unchanging Word (Luke 21:33; John 1:1). 2. Joy comes from God as one aspect of the Holy Spirit’s “fruit” -the character traits He develops in Christians’ lives (Psalms 16:11; Romans 15:13; Galatians 5:22). Joy does not come automatically but is experienced only as we remain in a growing, personal relationship with Christ (John 15:1-11). Our joy increases as the Holy Spirit gives us a deep sense of God’s presence and nearness in our lives (Proverbs 16:11; John 14:15-21) Jesus taught that complete joy is directly connected to knowing and remaining in God’s Word, obeying His commands (John15:7, 10-11), loving others and being set apart from the evil in the world (John 17:13-17).

I will say it again: Rejoice! REJOICE IN THE LORD In all circumstances, including suffering, God’s people must learn to rejoice and gain strength by recalling the Lord’s goodness, faithfulness, nearness and promises (Philippians 1:4; James 1:2; 1Peter 4:13). Joy and gentleness in the middle of difficult times will definitely stand out and “be evident to all” because such an attitude is typically lacking in people who, without God, have no sure and steady means of coping with life’s stresses.
