June 6-Start Your Day Right Devotion 1 John 4:2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, JESUS CHRIST HAS COME IN THE FLESHSome of the false teachers John warns against in this letter taught that Jesus was never really flesh-and-blood man; and that if He was, He certainly was not the Christ (the Messiah and Savior sent from God: 1 John 1:1). Religious cults, and even some Bible scholars today, expose themselves as "antichrist" (1 John 4:3) when they deny that Jesus is fully God and fully man (John 1:1),that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23) or that His death and resurrection provided the way for forgiveness and spiritual salvation (1 John 4:9-10; 2:2). Every belief and teaching that contradicts or denies any part of the Bible's revelation about Christ becomes questionable as being influenced by demonic "spirits" of deception (1 John 4:1) because it set aside the authority and complete trustworthiness of God's Word (2 Peter 1:3; Galatians 1:9).
