I WILL NOT ASKPretending he was too humble; Ahaz rejected the prophet Isaiah's counsel to trust God to rescue Judah. Instead, Ahaz depended on his own limited understanding and looked to the power of Assyria for help (2kings 16:5-18; 2 Chronicles 28:16-21). This decision would bring trouble to them when Assyria later would invade and conquer Judah's former sister nation of Israel. Conflict between the Jews (of the family line or nation of Judah) and Samaritans would continue into New Testament times.
