AUGUST 10 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORSThis entire phrase is one word in Greek -hupernikomen. This compound word appears once in the New Testament, as part of the verse. Huper means “over, above,” and nikomen means “victors, conquerors.” Paul is saying that rather than being “victims” of their suffering and circumstances in a sinful world, Christians are “over and above victors” or “super victors.” Rather than barely getting by in life’s difficult circumstances, Christ’s followers are “overwhelming conquerors.” That is because Jesus won the victory for us through His death on the cross. Because of His victory, we can now have spiritual salvation and the presence of the Holy Spirit living in us, supplying the power for us to be “more than conquerors” through life’s struggles (Romans 8:28, 38-39). AUGUST 9 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. THOUGH HE SLAY ME, YET WILL I HOPE IN HIMThis is one of the most amazing statements of faith ever spoken about God’s goodness. Whatever God allowed to happen to Job, whatever suffering Job had to endure, even if God should “slay” him (end his earthly life), Job believed that in the end God would not fail him. Paul expressed this same confidence in God’s love for His faithful people (Romans 8). Although the Lord may take away our comforts, allow us to experience ill health and take us through deep times of trouble, He will never abandon us. His power and love will see us through to victory if we continue to trust and depend on Him, convinced that He is right and has our best interests in mind (Romans 8:37-39). BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

Blessings, Margarita & Stace AUGUST 8 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION James 5 :11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. JOB'S PERSEVERANCEThe word “perseverance” (Greek hupomone) carries the meaning of a persistent, active patience. It is not a passive endurance; it is a work-while-you-wait lifestyle that reflects an active faith in whatever trials we may face without losing our hope and trust in God. Perseverance is often developed through faith that triumphs through sufferings (Job 13:15). The outcome of the Lord’s dealings with Job reveals that in all Job’s troubles, God cared deeply about him and preserved his life and hope. James wants us to know that God is concerned about all of His people and that, in their suffering, He will sustain them in love, and compassionate mercy (Job 6:4; 42:10). BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

No matter what happens, we can trust God to work for our good in all circumstances (Romans 8:28; James 5:11). The goal in following the Shepherd and experiencing His goodness and love is that one day we will be with the Lord forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17), see His face (Revelation 22:4) and serve Him forever (Revelation 22:3; John 14:2-3) BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

The verse literally translates: “the path of life is to the place above for the wise, that he may avoid the grave (Hebrew word Sheol) beneath.” Sheol can also mean a place of punishment after death (“Hades”; Psalms 16:10). This means that God’s people will go to the place above (heaven) after death and avoid Sheol altogether (Psalms 23:6; 73:24-25) BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:

NOT ABANDON ME TO THE GRAVEA personal relationship with God gives people the confidence of a future life with God and the certainty that He will not abandon them in death. (The Hebrew word “Sheol” is mentioned referring to the grave or the home of the deceased. Sheol was believed to be the dwelling place of the dead before the time of Jesus.) The apostles (pioneer leaders in the early church) Peter and Paul applied this verse to Christ and His resurrection (Acts 2:25-31; 13:34-37).

Blessings, Margarita & Stac AUGUST 4 - START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION Daniel 12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. MULTITUDES WILL AWAKEThis verse contains the clearest Old Testament reference to the resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked – those who have followed the true God and those who have rejected Him (Job 19:25-26; Psalms 16:10; Isaiah 26:19). This points to the fact that there are only two destinies for all people. We all choose for ourselves whether to follow Jesus on the path to eternal life or reject Him and take the path that leads to eternal punishment. Jesus Himself explains that there are two distinct resurrections (John 5:28-29). BIBLE STUDY TOOLS I USE:
